NEXICONTROL COMP is a range of active STATCOM compensators developed by VONSCH. The ANPC topology with SiC/IGBT transistors achieves efficiency above 99 %. It responds in real time - eliminating reactive power, stabilising voltage and removing distribution penalties.

Why compensate reactive power?

Problem: Inductive loads (motors, transformers) cause a current phase shift. Cables heat up, voltage drops and the distributor charges penalties for reactive power consumption.
Impact: cos φ = 0.7 means 30 % unnecessary grid load. It requires oversizing of cabling and transformers - increased investment and operating costs.
Solution: NEXICONTROL generates compensation current precisely in antiphase - instantly. cos φ → 1.0, penalties at zero, grid stable.

Operating modes

Reactive power compensation (STATCOM)
Continuous regulation of reactive power to cos φ = 1.0 or the required setpoint.
Harmonic suppression (APF)
Active filtering of higher harmonics - current THD below 3 %.
Voltage stabilisation
Maintaining grid voltage within the permitted band even with rapid load changes.
Grid Support
DROOP regulation, island grid support and PV/battery system support.

Control, integration and dispatching

NEXICONTROL active compensators are not isolated devices - they integrate into the customer's existing infrastructure:

  • Remote dispatching - connection via industrial EWON router, remote access and alarm management through Talk2m service.
  • Web visualisation - power factor, reactive power, harmonic distortion and device status directly from the browser.
  • Communication - Modbus RTU/TCP, CAN, integration into upstream SCADA / dispatch.
  • Hybrid systems - combination of passive and active compensation, control-algorithm optimisation for specific load profiles (35+ years of VONSCH experience).

The documentation package includes single-line diagram (SLD), electrical project (switchboards, protection, metering), FAT/SAT protocols and user manuals.
