QUATROFREM recuperative frequency converters
QUATROFREM recuperative frequency converters, also called Active Front End, are built on the popular UNIFREM platform, but unlike them, they have a controlled rectifier on the mains input side to allow bi-directional power flow.

Characteristics and advantages of QUATROFREM
Bi-directional power flow between grid and motor
QUATROFREM enables efficient bi-directional energy use, providing sinusoidal power draw from the grid with an adjustable power factor.
Elimination of higher harmonic currents
Standard frequency converters draw higher harmonic currents that cause interference in the power network. QUATROFREM eliminates this problem and draws virtually only the 1st harmonic, thus exceeding the requirements of STN EN 61000-3-12.
Energy recovery to the grid
When the engine is running as a generator, QUATROFREM returns the generated energy back to the power grid, thus ensuring economical operation. It is ideally suited for crane drives, elevator drives and similar applications.
An economic and ecological solution
Unlike standard inverters that convert generator energy into heat, QUATROFREM recovers it into the grid, eliminating ambient overheating and saving energy.
Suitable for high performance applications
QUATROFREM is ideal for use in wind farms or applications where minimizing higher harmonic currents is a priority.
Adjustable power factor (cos φ)
It allows the user to adjust the power factor value in the range of 0.95 – 1, which compensates for the capacitive nature of other devices in the network.
Stable voltage during outages
QUATROFREM maintains the output voltage at its nominal value even when the input voltage drops by 15%, ensuring smooth motor operation even with voltage fluctuations.
10% increase in engine power
At nominal mains voltage, QUATROFREM can increase the output voltage by 10%, enabling a 10% increase in motor power.
Ideal for cranes and lifts
QUATROFREM is most advantageous in applications where braking and therefore generative engine operation is frequent.
Standard STN EN 61000-3-12
QUATROFREM not only meets but also exceeds the standard for higher harmonic currents, ensuring seamless integration into existing electrical networks.
